Prince William will leave his wife at home when he attends a royal engagement next week.

Kensington Palace announced on Twitter: “The Duke of Cambridge, representing HM The Queen, will attend the New Zealand Commemoration for the Battle of Passchendaele on 12th October.”

This is because the Duchess is still suffering with severe morning sickness.

When is Kate Middleton’s baby due? If Kate is 12 weeks pregnant, then it is likely that the baby will be born in March 2018. This is because pregnancy lasts 40 weeks, just over nine months.

But the Duchess of Cambridge rushed to announce her pregnancy early when she was expecting Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

If Kate is seven weeks pregnant, Britain can expect the royal baby in April 2018. If she is only five weeks pregnant, the nation may have to wait until May 2018.

Prince Harry is another strong contender for the role of godparent.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have yet to follow tradition and make their child’s uncle a godparent, as happened with Harry, 33, who counts Prince Andrew among his godparents.

Members of the Royal Family did not make it on the list of Princess Charlotte’s godparents, with Kate and William instead opting for a member of Princess Diana’s family.

A royal expert has revealed who he thinks Kate and William will choose as godparents for their third child.

Richard Fitzwilliams told he thought Eugenie or Beatrice might be chosen – a shock after they were not even invited to Princess Charlotte’s christening.

He said: “It is possible Beatrice or Eugenie might be a godparent to the new baby.”

The Duchess of Cambridge has not been seen in public since the announcement of her pregnancy thanks to her severe morning sickness. Prince William has revealed his wife is trying ginger in an effort to beat her symptoms.

When an elderly mother-of-three revealed to William she had a similar illness when pregnant with her sons, he confessed his wife had tried ginger, a well-known remedy for upset stomachs.

The Duke met Iris Orrell, 98, when he attended a presentation ceremony and reception celebrating the Metropolitan and City Police Orphans Fund, which he supports as patron.

Experts warn the effect of hyperemesis gravidarum increases with each child carried by the mother and William asked Mrs Orrell “did it get worse with each pregnancy,” and was told it did.

The Duchess of Cambridge made her first public appearance – of a sort – since announcing her pregnancy.

The mother-of-two starred in a video supporting a mental health initiative for young children – although her cameo was actually filmed before the pregnancy announcement on September 4.

The Duchess is reportedly considering a home birth after having her first two children at the hospital.

A source told MailOnline: “The Duchess knew it wasn’t possible for her first baby to be born at home, but she asked for a home birth for the second.

“Officials and doctors thought it too risky. There was concern and in the end she decided against it.”

It’s believed the Duchess wanted to give birth to Princess Charlotte at Kensington Palace but ended up taking advice from medics.

Kate and William are rarely seen holding hands in public, and there is a particular reason why.

With Meghan Markle, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, seen kissing and hugging this weekend at the Invictus Games, many may be wondering why Kate and William don’t do the same.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are clearly in love, and have a reputation as being warm and friendly. But there is a reason they are careful not to kiss or hold hands in public.
