Michy Batshuayi talks big Chelsea family: How I have overcome frustrations

The striker has often been left frustrated under Antonio Conte by being left on the bench.

Chelsea’s 4-3 win over Watford on Monday night was Batshuayi’s first Premier League start since his £33million arrival.

The 23-year-old’s biggest Blues highlight was scoring the goal to clinch the title at West Brom last week.

But on the whole the Belgium international has been overlooked in favour of Diego Costa and other options up front.

However, while Express Sport understands West Ham are pursuing a deal this summer, Batshuayi is content fighting with his Chelsea team-mates for a place in the team.

“We have a very good squad, with lots of good players,” Batshuayi said.

“Lovely and humble lads too. Chelsea feels like a big family. When you can work in those conditions, day in, day out, that’s magnificent.

“Of course there were frustrations because I didn’t play a lot. So enjoying myself with the teammates wasn’t always that simple.

“But I also understood that I had some to work to do. But I’m happy. My team-mates have always been supporting me.

“They encouraged my to grab my chance and advised me not to let my head down. They are happy for me now. That’s very positive.”
